SUBMIT TO THE ARCHIVE

1 | Create your archive contributions! Use the prompts below to write journal entries, essays, poetry, or anything else that reflects on your experiences in quarantine. You can also create original artwork to submit as a photograph. Please keep your contributions appropriate and free of any personally identifying information beyond your class year and name, which are both optional. Please do not include information like addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information in the body of your submission. Submissions with inappropriate language or content will not be posted, as all materials will be made public. You will have the option to resubmit an edited version if we find contact information or inappropriate content in you contribution.

2 | Fill out the archive waiver or submit your materials via Google Form, which contains an electronic waiver. This form allows the SLP COVID Quarantine Archive Project to make your contributions available to the public online free of charge. It also establishes your privacy preferences and options for having your work attributed.

3| Submit your materials via Google Form (requires a Google email address) or send a completed waiver and your archive contributions to slpcovidarchive@gmail.com! We’ll review your submission and let you know if you need to change anything before your reflection is published online.

WRITING GUIDANCE

What should you write about? The short answer: anything you want! You can submit journal entries, essays, poems, or any other written materials that express your thoughts and experiences. You can also send in photographs of visual artwork if that’s more your style. Don’t forget to put the creation date on anything you submit — timestamps are important in the archive!

Here are some prompts you can follow if you’d like to journal, but feel free to get creative and write whatever you’d like:

1. What was life like before COVID-19 shut down St. Louis Park High School? Describe the kind of activities you were doing (work, sports, extracurriculars, etc.) and what plans you had for your spring term.

2. How did you react when you found out school would be closed and you would have to quarantine? Were you disappointed? Were you concerned about your living situation? Were you worried about your friends and family?

3. What does a typical day look like for you in quarantine? Are you living at home or somewhere else? How are classes run? Do you have access to WiFi and reliable meals? Do your circumstances make it hard to be successful in school? How are you keeping busy?

4. What does the future look like for you? How has COVID-19 changed your plans for summer or life after high school? In what ways do you think Minnesota, the United States, and the world as a whole will be changed by COVID-19? What are you most looking forward to once quarantine ends?

PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

Your privacy and safety are critically important to this project. We want you to feel comfortable sharing your story while ensuring your personal information is restricted. Because this is a public archive, please do not include anything in your submissions that you would not want to be available publicly and indefinitely. Please do not include personally identifying information beyond your name and class year. You’re also welcome to leave those details out if you would like. Talk to your parents or guardians before submitting your waiver so that they understand that you are participating in this project. If you are under 18, they will need to sign the waiver, too. The waiver will allow you to decide whether you want your information to be completely anonymous, limited to just your initials and class year, or to include your full name and class year. Everyone is required to put their full name and contact information on the waiver for logistical purposes, but contact information will not be made public. If you have any questions about participating and your privacy options, please CONTACT US.
